Domaine du Kré

Domaine du Kré

Established in November 2021 by young winemakers Louise Perret and Niels de Chardon, this small estate sits on the rugged slopes of Bugey. They pursue ORGANIC farming and permaculture principles to ensure their Gamay grapes grow as sustainably as possible in a delicate Alpine ecology.

Producing their first vintage in 2022, the couple chose Bugey for its vineyard with varied and hilly landscapes. In the vineyard, they work with nature by adopting a holistic vision: no plowing to avoid erosion and preserve the life of the soil. Planting hedges and trees in and around the plots to provide biodiversity, also with the installation of nest boxes and shelters for auxiliary fauna. It is with this same spirit that they have chosen to vinify as naturally as possible to let the wine express itself. They began with 4ha of Gamay but will soon have a little Jacquère and Altesse via over-grafting and planting. The objective is to keep approximately the same surface area so they can pay all the attention necessary to the care of the vines and the wine.

The wine

Domaine du Kré

Plongeon

Type: Gamay  | 2023 |

Niels and Louise’s first attempt at a “glou glou” red wine has been a resounding success. Letting their Gamay grapes sit on the skins just overnight to give it the lightest red hue possible also created a supremely fresh and fruity take on Alpine Gamay. A mix of sour cherries and fruit punch, you’ll be hard-pressed not to ask for more when this is in your glass.

Domaine du Kré

Côte Ouest

Type: Rosé Pet Nat of Gamay  | 2022 |

A sparkling rosé that acts as an homage to the famous local style – Bugey-Cerdon. Made as a Pet-Nat to produce delicate and caressing bubbles, this wine unleashes aromas of red fruits, strawberry and very pleasant little saline notes. It is both fresh but with a tiny hint of residual sugar that gives it a wonderful weight on the palate.

Think of this as the best brunch bubbly you could serve your friends. Pairs great with spicy foods, as well as dessert, and everything in between. One of the most versatile wines in our portfolio.

Domaine du Kré

Côte Est

Type: Gamay  | 2022 |

100% Gamay sourced from clay-limestone vineyards on a 30 to 50% slope. It undergoes carbonic maceration for 10 days, aged in vats. Indigenous yeast, unfiltered, no added sulfites.

This is a silky smooth, vibrant Gamay that screams mountain red wine. It is fluid and fresh on the palate. The nose is explosive with notes of black fruits and peppery and licorice notes. There is substance and freshness. A truly special wine.
