L’ Abri Vin
After having quit his career in IT and re-trained himself as a winemaker, in 2014
Franck Pasquier took over beautiful ORGANIC vineyards in the commune of Eygalières (near St Rémy de Provence), located on a foothill of the Alpilles massif. Facing south, the plots are made up of limestone, marl and clay and rise in terraces to the forest massif covering the top of Costebonne. He has pursued increasingly sustainable methods (massale selection, grafting, horse tilling, etc), but unable to give up his city lifestyle from his first career, in 2018 he set up his urban winery mere steps from the famous Vieux-Port of Marseille.
There, L’Abri operates as a working winery and a gastropub in which you can enjoy
Franck’s wines in the same facility where he produces his low intervention wines.

The wine
L’Oiseau de Nuit
If you’re looking for the platonic ideal of a Provence rosé, you’ve found it with L’Abri’s “L’Oiseau de Nuit.”
A lovely light rosé (truly light, it has that wonderful almost transluscent pink that people associate with rosé wines from Provence) with small aromas of red fruits, hint of cereals, and a light and pleasant weight in the mouth which leaves a clean and salivating finish. Refreshing and delightful as all wines from this style should be.
Le Rougé
Bursting with red fruit and lean tannins from the Grenache and Cinsault, both of which sit on the skins for less time than it takes to fly from California to France. This is the crunchy, juicy, easy-drinking “chillable red” that everyone likes to have in their glasses right now.
Fermented spontaneously with just a small sprinking of sulfur at bottling, this wine is energetic and consistently pleasing.
Oh Jeune!
A more rustic variation on the “Le Rougé,” this wine is not just lighter (only 11% alcohol) but also a bit wilder. More cherries than the red berry notes of the “Le Rougé” while also taking on a more feral, brett-like attitude.
The perfect “chillable red” for the natty wine crowd.
